उन्होंने कहा उत्तराखंड की भूमि प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य के साथ समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक विरासत के लिए भी जानी जाती है। हमारे राज्य में मुख्य रूप से थारू, भोटिया, जौनसारी राजी एवं बुक्सा जनजातियाँ निवास करती हैं, जिनकी परंपराएँ, लोक कला, हस्तशिल्प, लोकगीत, नृत्य और खानपान हमारी संस्कृति को अद्वितीय पहचान देते हैं। उन्होंने कहा राज्य सरकार, उत्तराखंड में आदिवासी समाज के विकास के लिए रात-दिन कार्य करती रहेगी।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि राज्य सरकार, उत्तराखंड के आदिवासी एवं जनजातीय समुदाय के कल्याण और उनके जीवन स्तर को बेहतर बनाने की दिशा में कार्य कर रही है। प्रधानमंत्री जनजातीय उन्नत ग्राम अभियान के अंतर्गत उत्तराखंड के 128 जनजातीय गांवों का चयन किया गया है। चयनित गांवों में बुनियादी सुविधाओं का विकास को बढ़ावा दिया जा रहा है।
राज्य में 4 एकलव्य आदर्श आवासीय विद्यालय कालसी, मेहरावना, बाजपुर व खटीमा में संचालित हो रहे हैं, जिसमें जनजातीय समुदाय के छात्रों को निशुल्क शिक्षा एवं हॉस्टल की सुविधा प्रदान की जाती है। जनजातीय समाज के बच्चों को प्राइमरी स्तर से स्नातकोत्तर स्तर तक छात्रवृत्ति प्रदान की जा रही है।
